Position Summary
The Hydrogen Plant Operations Lead is responsible for monitoring plant operators, technicians, equipment, and systems daily to ensure proper production and efficiencies are being met. The Plant Lead will screen systems and equipment for issues and will resolve as needed. The ideal candidate must have a high competency in equipment operating principles, operating parameters, interlocks, alarms, and how the equipment functions within its respective system. This role will work in all areas of the facility which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Plant Lead must have exceptional attention to detail, mechanical aptitude and must understand the purpose and function of the equipment and systems within the plant. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, able to multi-task and willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced growing organization.
Core Duties and Responsibilities

Check and monitor plant equipment and systems daily to ensure proper operation and detect problems as they occur. This includes checking oil levels, pressures, temperatures, flows, unusual noises, vibration, overheating, leaks, cleanliness, etc.

Responsible for training and supervision of normal operation, startup, and shutdown of all major and auxiliary equipment and systems in the plant following approved operating procedures

Troubleshoot equipment and system problems as needed, resolving, and training plant staff on how to perform proper corrective plant actions in order to maintain production and efficiency

Inspect equipment and be able to identify problems

Serve as lead on mechanical aptitude, evaluate equipment performance, perform routine calibration and maintenance of analytical test equipment, and maintain appropriate records

Communicate to Operations and Logistics Management if any instances may occur where production or demand planning may change

Assure that the daily log and other plant records are filled out in a timely and accurate manner (all outputs, consumptions, and rates)

Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and the administrative maintenance of plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams and preventive/predictive maintenance records

Provide or arrange for emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production; perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service

Lead safe work habits and housekeeping on a daily basis within the facility; including maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with all governmental and company procedures, rules, and regulations

Provide input to plant improvement to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety

Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and plant procedures

Execute productivity ideas and best practices to keep plant costs down

Work safely and effectively within a team environment, ensuring positive communication

Always represent Plug Power in a professional manner and in all interactions

Perform other related duties as assigned
Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent; Associates degree preferred

One-three years of prior experience in a manufacturing operation or chemical industry preferred

Previous supervisory experience highly preferred

Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team atmosphere

Superior interpersonal skills and communication abilities

Strong troubleshooting, diagnosis, decision making and leadership skills

Must possess a valid driver license, a clean driving record, and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle

Must be able to lift 50 pounds on regular basis unassisted

Ability to work in inclement weather for short periods of time
-
Ability to travel up to 15% of the time

Must be able to read and interpret P&ID’s, equipment manuals, and vendor operating instruction

Ability to wear all required safety equipment and work in confined spaces
-
Ability to pass a respirator physical and wear all personal protective equipment (e.g., mask, glasses, etc.)

Mechanical or electrical experience – trade related in Industrial Maintenance or Operations (e.g., factory, plant operations, power plant, hydrogen, gas or nuclear facility operations) preferred

Experience and ability operating and monitoring electric generators, chillers, compressors, and auxiliary equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, etc.) preferred
Pay Rate:
$31.80 - $46.10
