On behalf of a client in the utilities sector, we are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead and manage the organization’s information technology (IT) systems and capabilities in alignment with its enterprise-wide strategy. This executive-level position is responsible for establishing the company's IT strategy, driving innovation and digital transformation, enhancing cybersecurity posture, and ensuring technology investments deliver measurable business value. The CIO will report directly to the Chief Administrative and Sustainability Officer (CASO) and serve as a key partner to the executive management team in enabling safe, efficient, and sustainable operations through smart technology deployment. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Pineville, Louisiana.
The ideal candidate has a strong track record of IT executive leadership within a complex organization, with deep expertise in infrastructure, cybersecurity, application development, and IT governance. This individual brings a forward-thinking mindset and the ability to align IT with core business priorities while optimizing technology spending and mitigating risk.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Lead the development and execution of the enterprise IT strategy, ensuring alignment with broader business goals and long-term objectives
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the executive team, providing insight on emerging technologies, competitive threats, digital innovation, and cybersecurity
- Establish and oversee a scalable, secure, and efficient IT operating model and governance structure
- Oversee enterprise-wide technology investments, ensuring clear prioritization, value realization, and risk mitigation
- Enable and support digital transformation across business units by identifying, assessing, and implementing technology solutions that enhance operations and drive efficiency
- Cultivate a business-oriented culture within IT that emphasizes collaboration, performance, and results
- Direct enterprise data governance and support initiatives around data protection, analytics, and artificial intelligence
- Lead all aspects of IT and cybersecurity risk management, including endpoint security, regulatory compliance, and employee cyber awareness programs
- Serve as a connector across departments, aligning IT initiatives with organizational needs and stakeholder expectations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with executive leadership, board members, and functional teams to ensure effective communication, influence, and delivery
- Lead and develop a high-performing IT team; partner with HR to recruit, retain, and grow talent in alignment with organizational needs and values
- Maintain fiscal responsibility by managing capital and operating budgets with an emphasis on cost optimization and strategic investment
- Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of enterprise applications and systems, including SAP S4/Hana
Minimum qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information management, business administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- Fifteen to 25+ years of progressive IT experience, including at least three to five years of executive-level IT leadership
- At least five to eight years of people management experience, with a proven ability to build, mentor, and lead cross-functional teams
- Experience leading large, enterprise-wide programs and influencing senior-level management and stakeholders
- Deep understanding of IT infrastructure, enterprise applications, cloud computing, and cybersecurity, with the ability to optimize business models and advance digital objectives
- High level of financial acumen, with demonstrated experience managing IT budgets and making strategic investment decisions
- Familiarity with IT governance frameworks such as COBIT and ITIL, and service management best practices (ITSM)
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to clearly articulate IT vision and strategy to both technical and non-technical audiences, including the Board of Directors
- Critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities, with a strong bias for action and results
- Experience navigating the intersection of IT and OT, with an understanding of the unique challenges within the utility industry
- Experience with SAP S4/Hana preferred
- Ability to travel as needed
