Job Description
Responsible for identifying each horse as it enters the paddock to ensure that the correct horse is running and is wearing the correct equipment. Responsible for processing all necessary paperwork regarding horses, owners, and horsemen.
Job Functions
- Identify each horse as it comes into the paddock, making sure the correct horse is running.
- Make sure all horses are wearing the correct equipment (blinders, bits, etc.)
- Assist horsemen with all transfer of ownership or trainer transfer.
- After races are drawn each race day, responsible for making sure each set of papers and the information for the race program is correct.
- File all horse papers that are brought to the Racing office.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have knowledge of and prior experience with horses.
- Prior experience in a similar position preferred.
- Must be able to work with horsemen and give directions.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Must be able to stand and walk, reach, lift, bend, and work outside in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to obtain/maintain any necessary licenses and/or certifications.
