GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Battalion Chief at IRFD is responsible for managing and directing all emergency service operations during assigned shifts. This role involves supervising, training, and developing personnel while implementing policies and plans aligned with the department's mission. Strong managerial skills, effective decision-making, and the ability to coordinate emergency response efforts in high-stress situations are essential.
Based out of the Calcasieu Pass LNG facility in Cameron, LA, this role provides primary support to the CP1 facility.
Our client company, Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas, servicing the global demand for North American natural gas and supporting the long-term development of clean and reliable energy supplies.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Emergency Response Operations: Coordinate activities within the Incident Management System, applying NFPA standards (600, 1081) to manage risks, confirm dispatch and tactical benchmarks, allocate resources, maintain personnel accountability, and document incident progress.
- Personnel Training: Evaluate and conduct training for emergency personnel, documenting performance, organizing site tours, developing lesson plans, conducting drills, and maintaining training records per NFPA standards.
- Department Operations: Regularly assess equipment, apparatus, and facilities; monitor repairs; enforce safety regulations; and ensure operational readiness. Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation and industry best practices.
- Leadership & Administration: Oversee battalion operations, including budgeting, policy development, safety enforcement, and team leadership. Manage personnel performance, provide feedback, recommend disciplinary actions, and promote team morale through team-building efforts.
- Education & Outreach: Conduct demonstrations and activities to foster a positive image of the department, assist in resolving staff concerns, and engage in physical fitness activities to maintain readiness.

- Industry standards for industrial fire brigades and emergency services.
- Facility layout and operation/maintenance of emergency equipment and apparatus.

What We Want:
- Proven experience (3+ years) in emergency response, particularly in industrial or municipal firefighting, with demonstrated leadership skills.
- Experience managing and supervising teams during emergency incidents, ensuring effective coordination and safety.
- In-depth knowledge of fire suppression, hazardous materials management, and incident command systems.
- Strong decision-making abilities and effective risk assessment skills in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with experience liaising with external partners such as government agencies and industrial clients.
- Ability to implement training programs and operational protocols to enhance team performance.
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with safety standards (OSHA, NFPA) and regulations.
- Knowledge of business administration principles, including scheduling, financial management, and strategic planning.
- Experience in implementing training programs, safety guidelines, or operational protocols.
- Relevant certifications in firefighting, emergency response, or incident command (not required).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Full-time position with a forty-hour work week. Over Time will be based upon approval.
· May include after-hours or weekend duties.
· Responding to various emergency incidents across facilities.
· Involves physical and mental stress due to emergency situations.
