Description
Jackson Parish Hospital is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner for it's rural health clinic. Position comes with a full benefit package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement, short and long-term disability, and other supplemental plans.
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for administering and overseeing a variety of assignments related to the health care services for patients at Jackson Parish Hospital Clinics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ RESPONSIBILITIES
- Obtains and records patient medical history and performs physical exams.
- Orders, evaluates, and monitors medical and laboratory diagnostic tests and treatment plans.
- Prepares, develops, and initiates treatment plan.
- Educates and counsels patients on condition, desired results of treatment plans, expectations during illness, and recovery.
- Consults with supervising physicians, specialists, and other health professionals as appropriate.
- Oversees daily operations of clinic and reports any issues to Clinic Director.
- Serves as a charge nurse for other nursing staff working in their practice.
- Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times. Follow HIPAA regulations.
- Perform any other task as assigned to by Supervisor.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time frames.
- Attends and participates in assigned committees and staff meetings as scheduled.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Adheres to all JPH policies and procedures.

Requirements
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, Master's degree or higher is required.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
- Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license in the state of Louisiana.
- Current Nurse Practitioner certification.
- Current BLS certification is required upon hire.
- ACLS and PALs certification is required within 6 months of hire.
LANGUAGE and PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work alone or with minimal supervision.
- Professional/Courteous rapport with patients, families, co-workers, physicians, and visitors.
- Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner.
- Ability to work long hours between breaks and meals, if necessary.
- Basic computer competency.
MACHINERY/TOOLS/EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to operate and telephone, fax machine, copy machine, computer, and printer/scanner.
