Shop Manager Needed Immediately
Earnest Contracting is seeking an experienced and skilled Shop Manager to lead our full time automotive/diesel engine repair shop. The Shop Manager is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, and servicing of the company’s equipment and vehicles. They will supervise and manage a staff of mechanics, and must be able to work well with the Yard Manager. Organization, planning, and setting manageable service timeframes is required.
An exceptional Shop Manager will be a team player and understand the importance of a well ran shop for the company. They will be able to look ahead and see the mechanical issues that could be and make the needed changes now.
Shop Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversees day to day operations of the vehicle and equipment maintenance shop.
- Supervises, trains, and coordinates work of mechanics, technicians, and other employees assigned to the Shop.
- Working with the Parts Manager and Yard Manager, maintains inventory of replacement parts, tools, and equipment required for operations.
- Responsible for maintaining the fleet and equipment through preventative maintenance and needed repairs.
- Communicates daily to the Company Owner and the Fleet Manager the status of vehicles and equipment that are being repaired and those getting scheduled maintenance.
- Ensures preventative maintenance and repairs meet all quality and safety standards.
Shop Manager Experience/Education Requirements:
- 5+ years’ experience managing a mechanics shop or service department.
- Experience in diesel engine diagnosis and repairs desired but not required.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Able to enforce policies to assure accuracy and efficiency.
- Class A CDL desired but not required.
- Physical requirements: Manually lift/carry 50-100 lbs. Stand, walk, sit, kneel, crouch, or crawl for long periods of time.
- Ability to perform all required tasks during all weather conditions (hot/cold), and to work extended hours, as needed.
