This position is a temporary job appointment that may last up to 4 years.

To provide physical effort to accomplish a variety of unskilled tasks or to inspect levees for signs of slides and washouts for proper drainage and elimination of various other causes of damage.

Differs from other unskilled jobs by close supervision required in performing most assigned tasks.
Examples of Work
This position is located in the Office of Management and Finance, Facility Division within the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry. This position will help maintain the grounds, do general cleaning within the facilities, and assist maintenance personnel with tasks and projects. This position will report to the Maintenance Foreman.
90% Labor
Maintains the grounds by keeping the grass cut, blowing off driveways and parking lots, picking up trash, weed eating, and round up.
Keeps lawncare equipment clean and reports any issues to supervisor.
Helps with janitorial duties on property by vacuuming, cleaning specified rooms/areas, and maintaining tidiness in the warehouses.
Helps with keeping construction areas clean during major remodel projects.
May be assigned to work alongside other maintenance personnel with projects and tasks such as painting, sheetrock finishing, sheetrock hanging, and installation of floors.
10% Miscellaneous
Enters time and leave as needed in LEO.
Functional Requirements
- Moderate/light lifting. 30 pounds with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds
- Frequent reaching above shoulder height
- Climbing ladders and stairs
- Walking and standing throughout an 8-hour day
- Bending and kneeling
- Considerable walking over irregular ground and standing for long periods of time
