Capitol Park Museum in Baton Rouge, LA.
About This Position:
The mission of the Office of State Museum (OSM) is to collect, preserve and present, as an educational resource, objects of art, artifacts and the like that reflect the history, art, and culture of Louisiana for citizens of and visitors to the State of Louisiana.
The subject position is responsible for the educational curriculum for children and collaboration on family, adult and community programming at the Capitol Park Museum. The incumbent report to the Regional Museum Division Director and work collaboratively with the Museum's education and curatorial team.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree in museum studies, a humanities field, education, or fine arts plus two years of curatorial experience; OR
A master’s degree in museum studies, a humanities field, education, or fine arts plus one year of curatorial experience; OR
A Ph.D. in museum studies, a humanities field, education, or fine arts.

To serve as the special projects coordinator in developing special projects for the State Museum including exhibitions, traveling exhibitions, and publications.

Examples of Work
Plans, organizes, and implements special exhibitions, publications, educational programs, traveling exhibits, lectures, media programs, museum exchanges, and other special projects as assigned.
Negotiates with other regional, national, and international museums to loan or exchange exhibits.
Plans and arranges shipment of collection materials (logistical and security) in conjunction with the Collections division director.
Supervises and coordinates the work of special project teams.
Presents lectures and attends special events and conferences to promote museum activities.
Coordinates and implements a recruitment system to recruit volunteers for special projects.
Researches and develops pamphlets, articles, catalogues, etc., related to the collections and exhibitions of the State Museum.
Makes guest appearances on media programs to publicize special projects.
