Job Description
PPM is seeking a skilled Environmental Compliance Engineer with expertise in air compliance and a working knowledge of water discharge and solid waste management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting environmental reporting, and developing plans to mitigate environmental impacts, with a primary focus on manufacturing industries such as lumber, wood pellets, food processing, and metal extrusion. These industries are primarily located in Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama, with potential work extending to neighboring states
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit compliance reports in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Manage air permitting processes, including applications and renewals, specific to manufacturing operations in the designated regions.
- Conduct air dispersion modeling to assess environmental impacts and ensure compliance with air quality standards in manufacturing environments across the southeastern United States.
- Develop and maintain environmental plans such as Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and Startup, Shutdown, and Malfunction (SSM) plans, tailored to manufacturing sites in Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, and beyond.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to air compliance regulations, including emissions tracking and reporting for manufacturing facilities in the region.
- Provide technical support and guidance on water discharge and solid waste management practices in industrial operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement environmental best practices and sustainability initiatives within manufacturing industries, with sensitivity to regional regulatory standards.
- Stay updated on changes in environmental laws and regulations, particularly those affecting the southeastern United States, to ensure ongoing compliance.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in air compliance, permitting, and dispersion modeling, preferably in manufacturing sectors.
- Familiarity with environmental plans such as SPCC, SWPPP, and SSM plans.
- Working knowledge of water discharge and solid waste management regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in environmental modeling software and tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in environmental compliance or related areas.
- Experience with regulatory agencies and permitting processes specific to manufacturing in the southeastern United States.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and environmental impact assessments in manufacturing industries.
