About the role
International SOS Medical Services US Response Center is a 24/7 platform to provide topside support medical advice and case management services to our NAM Clients and Onsite Medical Professionals and is augmenting clinical case management via the provision of industry friendly medical guidance and best practices clinical direction.
We are currently staffing for PRN Baton Rouge-based Nurse Practitioners to work out of our local Response Center. The position will include coverage for our Full-time staff which is anticipated to be approximately 4-6 shifts per month. Our Response Center is open 7 days a week including weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 coverage. Shifts are 12 hours. At present, we are staffing for our day shift complement for which the working hours are 7:00 am until 7:00 pm. In the future, this role will be expanded to include night shift coverage as well.
Key responsibilities
MEDICAL TOPSIDE SUPPORT
• First call receiver from MedSite Medical Professionals for clinical case escalation
• Responsibility for medical due diligence and case direction with respect to designated medical supervision cases on all transmissions.
• Assess each designated case with respect to its medical elements and provide direction in order to facilitate medical due diligence and render the appropriate supervision.
• Responsibility for ensuring that there is an appropriate medical handover of cases at the beginning/ end of each shift.
• Help determine the medical frequency/intensity of medical contacts with treating Doctors, Clients, patients and their family members as appropriate.
• Receive and assess relevant medically related calls received from MedSites/clients. Collect logistical, medical and collateral histories pertaining to the medical event/incident.
• Provide telephone / telehealth medical assessment of designated patients in, assess and monitor the appropriateness of the treatment where they are located in conjunction with the US RC Medical Director and Topside Support Physician.
• Organize and supervise appropriate medical supervision for designated Intl. SOS clients. This includes obtaining medical reports, organizing referrals, monitoring the patient's conditions, recommending appropriate means of medical transportation, and monitoring the progress of such.
• Obtain medical reports from treating medical staff to ascertain the suitability of patient's treatment, monitor medical care and co-ordinate the patient's needs for transport as appropriate.
• Partake in the further development and enhancement of Intl. SOS medical and logistic capabilities.
MEDICAL LIASON AND REPORTING
• Collect relevant medical information to produce focused professional medical reports that effectively communicated medical information to all types of clients.
• Professionally communicate verbally and/or in writing to the relevant parties/clients of the progress of the patient's condition. Discuss appropriate medical management and dispositional recommendations.
• Undertake responsibility for the medical information released from the Response centre.
• Escalation as per Intl. SOS protocol to the Medical Directors of the Response Centre.
• Maintain high standards for detailed and accurate documentation including the consistent updating of case files.
• Act as Medical Authenticator for internal validation of required vaccinations and tests
• When required, escalate to, open and discuss clinical cases with Philadelphia Assistance Center and any Intl.SOS network of medical assistance for case managements and logistics
MEDICAL QUALITY CONTROL
• Support NAM Medical Management in Quality Control of Medical Cases being delivered at MedSites in USA.
• Ensure that all escalated cases are documented using the approved US RC Medical Records and Documentation system
• Conduct intermittent MedSite surveys and audits on our MedSites across United States
• Conducts random (virtual) case note reviews for MedSites
• Support the team in writing procedures, protocols, implementation as deemed necessary.
• Support during the audits as deemed necessary from a medical front.
TRAINING
• Under the supervision of US RC Medical Director, organize and lead training of Health Care Professionals on MedSites with new processes, and/or systems.
• Make a positive impact and significant contribution in onboarding of field Health Care Professionals going to industrial sites early in their career.
• Develop and implement industrial medicine, WIICM and living conditions training package for new hires
MISCELLANEOUS
• Work within and promote all Intl. SOS policies and procedures.
• Take an active role in interviewing new medical candidates
• Carry out other reasonable duties as requested by the Medical Director and, or Direct Manager.
• Work flexible hours as appropriate to the needs of the post.
• Undertake client specific training on unique software or involving programmatic requirements to fulfil the expectation of the contract and client.
• Be responsible for own Continuing Professional Education. Intl. SOS will endeavour to support appropriate Continuing Professional Education requests.
• Play a leading role in case management and team development, working closely with the Operations managers.
• Supports warehouse controlled medication management in conjunction with supply chain team
• Attend supervision, training and departmental meetings as and when required.
• Undertake accountability for your workload.

Required Work Experience
• Minimum 3 years of working experience with either Primary Care and/or Emergency Medicine.
• Working knowledge of the principles of Mid-Level health care and clinical practice.
Required Qualifications
• Post graduate certification from a recognized academic institution with a relevant work experience as a Mid-Level Health Care Provider
• Valid ACLS & PHTLS certification or similar protocols.
