Supervisor’s Title: Operations Manager
GENERAL
The Landscape Construction Estimator is a hands-on position managing active estimating and bidding of commercial landscape/irrigation construction services. The focus of this role is to pursue, bid, and win landscape/irrigation construction projects, client focused communication, building relationships with subcontractors, vendor relationships and material ordering, Safety, managing job budgets. The Landscape Construction Estimator will promote teamwork within the company.
DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES
1. Seeking new opportunities to bid through contacting General contractors, bid websites and private clients.
2. Manage bid calendar and ensure timely response to clients.
3. Complete all bids/estimates and submit them to satisfy client deadline.
4. Receive subcontractor bids and evaluate them for accuracy to scope required.
5. Manage design with Landscape Architect and control communication with clients.
6. Work with Maintenance team on larger enhancements from current clients
7. Assist in identifying enhancement opportunities and change orders on jobsites.
8. Follow up on all bids results on submitted proposals.
9. Review bids with Production Manger to get buy in on estimate accuracy.
10. Sell landscape/lawn maintenance on every construction job opportunity.
1. Review and/or issue contracts to clients in a timely manner
2. Issue subcontractor agreements to all vetted subs on projects
3. Request submittals from subs and vendors and return all documents to clients in requested time.
4. Issue Purchase Orders for all materials to vendors
5. Run the handoff meetings with the production team to ensure a smooth and efficient project.
6. Manage long term production schedule to meet sales goal.
1. Work with Project Manager to set goals, deadlines, and schedules for the project to meet client timeframe.
2. Provide production team with documents and plans as needed for the duration of the projects.
3. Coach, Teach, Mentor Production manager and Production team.
4. Assist Project Manager with interviewing, hiring, and orienting, and training all new team members.
5. Enforce company policy and promote company Culture.
1. Ensure that monthly invoicing is updated in a timely manner and approved to be sent.
2. Review and monitor the integrity of information provided to accounting system (timesheets and work orders).
1. Maintain excellent relations and communications with clients, contractors and/or subcontractors as needed.
2. Encourage multiple sales from current clients.
3. Communicate daily with OPS Manager and staff on jobsite progress and issues.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1. 4+ years’ experience in the landscape industry - Horticulture degree preferred.
2. Physically capable of outdoor labor – lifting, carrying, planting, etc. as needed.
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
4. Strong leadership and people skills.
5. Excellent horticultural knowledge and ability to teach others.
6. Able to translate technical information to a focused and specific assignment.
7. Provide a goal-oriented work process while motivating and leading others with a supportive atmosphere.
8. Self-motivation and a commitment to high quality.
9. Current and clear Class D driver’s license.
10. Current pesticide applicator’s license (or ability to obtain within 1 month) is desired.
11. CLT and ISA Arborist certificate is desired.
12. Strong organizational and communication skills.
