Description
GIS Technician primary duties are to use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and/or Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) applications for manipulation of survey data to serve a variety of purposes. The GIS Technician processes, interprets, and creates survey datasets into maps and geospatial deliverables.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Works alongside team performing aerial, land, and hydrographic surveying with remote sensing technologies.
- Uses AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS to produce maps and charts.
- Creates and maintains Geospatial databases
- Process geospatial data using tools and techniques to produce data used in variety of final deliverables.
- Process LiDAR data, photogrammetry
- Convert CAD files to GIS for production of maps/analysis
- QA/QC of data to check for data accuracy and correctness
- Candidate will be expected to develop skills and advance in growing technologies.
Key Tasks
- Digitizing various forms of data.

Experience And Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Geomatics or related field; or work experience that demonstrates proficiency in GIS/Surveying.
- 2-5 years’ experience in related in surveying or GIS or similar field.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and/or other related software packages.
- Knowledge and experience with geodesy, hydrography, GIS, photogrammetry, LiDAR, and cartography.
- Experience processing and interpreting field datasets.
MPH will look favorably on candidates with any of the following certifications: Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Professional (GISP) or similar. UAS (drone) certifications and/or data familiarity.
